Welcome to the Summer Breeze and Tulip Top Blog Tour hosted by Wardrobe by Me! There are daily prizes to be won by joining the Wardrobe by Me Pattern Support group on Facebook and entering a comment on the current day’s blog tour post. There will also be a spectacular grand prize at the end of the tour!

There were actually three tops in the testing group and they were all great and I had a hard time deciding which one to do first. Since the tops were initially unnamed and were referred to by number instead, I just went through them in numerical order!

The first top I sewed up during testing was the Summer Breeze. There are two versions, one with a neck ruffle and one without. The slightly higher hem in the front and ruffle make this a very flattering top.

The top is designed for wovens and I made mine in a very drapey rayon. It has been unseasonably warm so this top came just in time. It is aptly named for feeling a cool breeze during this heat! I am not complaining though because we have more than our share of cold weather here so I will take the heat when it comes.

Though this was designed for woven fabric, some of the testers did their version in a knit. Just remember to size down as you won’t need the built in ease that is required for a woven fabric. There were even a couple of testers who lengthened their patterns and made dresses. I love a pattern that begs to be creative with it!

The other top that was released is the Summer Tulip. The details on this top are so nice. Check out the curved hem, cuffed sleeves and the pretty gathers at the neckline!

When I went browsing through my stash I came across this knit and realized it would go really well with two other Wardrobe by Me garments I have sewn, the Blixen Blazer and the Frida Shorts.IMG_4991

Since this top is also designed for wovens, I went down one size and proceeded as usual.

I like that this top is on the dressy side. I don’t have many tops that are summery and dressier, so this fills a gap in my wardrobe.

Both the Summer Breeze Tunic and Summer Tulip Top are on sale until Su, June 4 for $7 US. I have loved everything I have made from Wardrobe by Me and these tops are no exception. In fact, I will need to sew up a few more because summer has just started and who doesn’t want to look good while keeping cool!!!

  2. I love how you matched your Tulip Top with your Frida shorts and Blixen! And that green is calling for summer!
