The newest pattern, The Aurora, from Wardrobe by Me started out as a dress pattern. Then a curved hemline was added to make this pattern into a beautiful top. THEN, on top of the cute mandarin collar, Christina added a bow-tie collar. She also worked overtime finding the best construction method to get perfect results on the collars. Can you see all the combos you can make with this pattern!
I have had this fabric in my stash waiting for the right dress pattern to come along and this one fit the bill but I really like the curved shirt-tail hem, soooo I added it to the bottom of the dress, made it a bit wider to fit the width of the dress hem and created my very own version of the Aurora dress!
At 5’9″, I usually have to lengthen patterns a bit, but I decided that I wanted to go all out and ended up adding about 15cm in length as well as taking the curve from the top and tacking that on the end of the dress.
This dress is now a perfect length for the cold winter season that we will be entering. I will pair this up with the Trudy Turtleneck, also from Wardrobe by Me for the perfect combo to keep me warm as the temperatures drop.
The Aurora Top and Dress is very figure flattering. I bet you can’t even tell how bloated I am from having had to endure not one, but TWO Thanksgiving dinners! (Thanksgiving comes early in Canada, just like winter!)
Thanks again to Christina at Wardrobe by Me for another fantastic pattern! Make sure to grab your own copy of the Aurora Top and Dress and have fun creating your very own perfect pattern combo!
