Thank you for joining me on my stop of the Show Your Stoff Blog Tour. Zierstoff Patterns is a pdf sewing pattern designer from Germany. Since my heritage is German, this struck a cord with me and I had to sign up!

They have a lot of their patterns translated into English, including patterns for babies, kids, women and teens, and accessories. They even have a section with a number of free patterns. They have also issued a coupon code valid for the entire month of April so that you can receive 30% off any or all of their patterns!!! The coupon code is “MahlicaDesigns30”.

I had a really hard time narrowing down which pattern I was going to try for the blog tour. I ended up choosing the Greta Tunic and I am glad I did. There are two options for finishing the neckline, a couple of different hem options and there are three different options for finishing off the sleeves and hem, including using cuffs which would be cute! I am looking forward to trying out some of the other options on my next Greta tunic.

I really liked the look of the collar finished with bias binding made from the shirt fabric. I did the curved hem and the split sides at the bottom. I have never finished a side hem like this and the technique they use in the instructions made it really easy.

The patterns do not have the ability to print only the layers you want so I ended up printing it on my colour printer so the lines would be super easy to distinguish from one another. The pattern tiles are also no-trim which makes pattern assembly really simple. The one thing that stood out for me as different than other pdf pattern companies was that there were no sizing charts in the instructions. There is instead a sizing chart on their website which will allow you to make sure that the size you need is included in the pattern you are downloading.

There are some really cute and unique styles offered here that I have not seen offered by North American pattern designers. The use of photos in the instructions is a nice touch and their prices are very reasonable as well. You can also check out the Youtube links they have for many of their patterns. It is nice to be able to watch either new techniques or the whole pattern come together.
