This is a new breakfast that we have been playing with in our kitchen. I had soaked/sprouted/dehydrated some buckwheat a couple of weeks ago and somehow had forgotten that I did. I pulled it out and we have been incorporating this into our morning meal. I asked my youngest daughter what we should call it and she came up with with Apple Applause, because it tastes so good were her words, not mine! It’s always nice when we can not only have a healthy breakfast but a yummy one, too!
I am still trying to figure out how to get posts online using my new iPad and there may be a bit of a learning curve but I am hoping that I can get things ironed out because I am having a lot of fun with this little unit.
Apple Applause Raw Cereal
Sprouted, dehydrated buckwheat
Chopped apple
Raisins
Mulberries
Dried apple chips
Shredded coconut
I started by adding one chopped apple to the bowl and just tossed in whatever else I had in the quantities I was wanting at the moment.
Emily used store bought coconut milk for hers. For mine, I chose to make a fat-free banana “milk”.
Banana Milk
2 ripe bananas
1 tbsp carob powder
1 tbsp Lucuma powder
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup water
Blend this up in the Vita Mix and pour over the cereal. I find this much tastier than nut milks and more satiating.
Today marks our first day of snow in our area. I am going to enjoy it knowing that the temperature is supposed to hit 15 degrees Celsius again on the weekend. Thank goodness, as there are still a few things left to take care of outside before we are ready to settle in for the coming winter.
